WELCOME

TO

ADIRONDACK LIVE STEAMERS, INC

By Richard Dean, Membership Secretary

A membership in any club should always be on a want basis. Do I want to belong? Do I want to participate?, Do I want to help this organization grow and survive?  And of course last but not least is Do they want me?

Adirondack Live Steamers, Inc is just that club, the kind you truly want to be part of and see prosper and grow.  And the camaraderie is just a small part of it.  We are very much a very large family.  Some meet weekly to get together and do what they can to make the club the best it can be.  Others just come in the height of the season to see what is going around on the tracks. Still others come only to our meets. We have members from as far away as Canada, California, West Virginia, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida and really who knows where else.  You definitely do not have to be local to belong.

Adirondack Live Steamers, Inc exists to promote the interest in and knowledge of steam locomotion weather it be on the tracks or other. BUT we do not limit to just steam. We are open to all that have a genuine interest in large-scale trains.

AdirondacK Live Steamers, Inc has social gatherings for ideas to be exchanged from experienced steamers to help beginners.  We also provide insight into building and maintaining a steam engine.

The Adirondack Live Steamers, Inc provides an outdoor activity for the whole family, whether it is Father, Daughter; Mother, Son; Grandmother, Grandchild, or any combination thereof. It gives opportunities for individuals or families to operate their steam, diesel, or electric train equipment on a large track in a setting that is not normally available to the individual owner.

We hold 2 Annual meets, one in June and one in September.  We have a membership day in May, which is open to those who have been invited.  You only need a genuine interest in steaming and trains.  If you would like an invitation please contact any member of the club.  We host hundreds of visitors yearly.  We normally run from March through October depending on the weather.  Saturdays are always working days along with any other days that one is willing to work. We need to keep the track in tip top shape for running, and building new track.  We also have a new enlarged Station House that is in need of finishing. This was a major project we started on 3 years ago and proudly held our fall meet in this building last year. Mostly members themselves accomplished this; with a little help from the outside.“Sundays are Fundays” with most trains running.

We publish a monthly newsletter “Whistles in the Woods” to all members who are in good standing.

We vote in new members on a rolling basis at our monthly meetings that are the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10:30 in the new Station House.   If you live within 50 miles we encourage you to be present.   We hold an annual banquet in February to welcome the New Year. Dues are due January 1 annually.

We have three types of memberships:

1.Regular:  Dues are $125 annually with one time  $50 initiation fee. Regular members have voting rights, can hold an office and can run their own equipment on the clubs tracks.

 2. Associate: Dues are $40 annually. This is open to all who may run at our annual meets and to those who are over the 50-mile radius and over 16.
